This Melbourne Gap Year adventure will have you exploring the city’s hidden laneways and local rooftops in Australia’s Multicultural Hub! We visit the Mornington Peninsula Hotsprings and visit the world renowned Great Ocean Road! If you are on a Working Holiday, we will also get you set up with all of your Working Holiday or Gap Year Essentials to set you up for your time downunder! Your first week is jam packed with information, activities and inclusions and will introduce you to new friends from all over the world.

Our Ultimate Melbourne Adventure spends 6 nights in the beachside suburb of St Kilda.
- 6 nights are spent in dorm share accommodation at Nomads St Kilda.
- Facilities include a Bar, Communal Kitchen, Laundry, Free Wifi and more.
- Accommodation is based on 6-10 bed shared dorm arrangements.
- Twin share and Private rooms upgrades are available at surcharges. Subject to availability.

What is Ultimate Melbourne?
The Ultimate Melbourne Gap Year adventure is designed for those planning a working holiday / gap year in Australia. The majority of our travellers are aged between 18 and 30.
There are various visa options available depending on your reason for travelling to Australia. Download our trip notes or visit our visa information page for information on which visa to apply for.
If you are planning a Working Holiday, you must apply for a 417 or 462 Visa. You can still book the Melbourne Adventure on a Tourist Visa, but you will not be eligible for the Gap Year support elements of the package.

Im travelling alone. How will I meet people?
UltimateOz is designed to help you make friends as soon as you arrive in Australia! Most people travelling with UltimateOz arrive alone and stay in touch with friends from the group for the rest of their time here. You’ll spend your first week having loads of fun and getting to know each other. After the UltimateOz week has come to an end, our crew can advise you on finding work, accommodation in Sydney or plan your travel adventure around Australia with your new mates. How do I find work in Australia?
UltimateOz includes a 12-Month membership to our online job database – Travellers At Work!
During your first week in Sydney we’ll give you valuable information about finding work in Australia. We’ll share our tips on where to find work, how to apply and what you can expect to earn!
We’ll provide you with access to the Travellers At Work job database, so you can begin applying for jobs at your earliest convenience. If at any time you need some guidance just swing by and have a one-on-one session with one of our in-house work and travel experts who can help you out in your job search! We’ll review your CV and help you adapt your application to suit Aussie employers.
Can you help me book flights and insurance?
We are unable to book flights, but we always recommend using online search engines to research the best available flight routes, prices and times. To ease your experience, we suggest booking via a Travel Agent or directly with your preferred airline.
Travel insurance is required to participate in this tour. We recommend that you find and compare various policies to ensure you have an appropriate level of coverage for you adventure. Not sure where to start? You can find some trusted Travel Insurers here.
Can I travel with Dietary requirements?
In most cases, we can cater to Vegetarian and Gluten Free diets. We will make every effort to cater to all other diets and needs, but we are unable to guarantee this will be possible in every location we visit. Unfortunately we will not cater for tastes or dislikes. We will ask you to re-confirm any dietary requirements with your Group Leader at the start of your trip.
Can I travel with a medical condition?
If you have an existing medical condition or disability that may affect your trip or how deliver our experience, we ask that you inform us in writing at the time of your booking. You may be asked to obtain a medical certificate and if we reasonably feel we are unable to accommodate your particular needs, we reserve the right to decline your booking.
How much spending money do I need?
On our Group Tours, your transport and accommodation along with the meals and activities listed on the itinerary are all included in your tour price. While you are travelling you may wish to participate in additional activities which you will need to budget for. While travelling you may wish to eat and drink out or you may plan to cook and prepare some of your own meals.
As a guide, we recommend you budget an additional $40 – $60AUD per day for spending money. Please note that all travellers are different and you may wish to travel with additional spending money. There are amazing optional activities and food options on offer on the East Coast and if you desire to experience most of them, you may wish to budget for additional spending money.
Can I book extra nights before the trip? I’m arriving early!
Of course! You can pre-book extra nights in Sydney if you’re arriving early, and also extend your stay. You can add them onto your booking, or just get in contact with us! Optional activities are available to add on in country if you are interested in exploring more areas around Sydney!
Do I need a working holiday visa to book?
UltimateOz is designed for travellers on a 417 or 462 working holiday visa, generally aged 18–30 (up to 35 for some nationalities). You can book on a Tourist Visa too, but you won’t be eligible for the gap year work-support benefits (job database, TFN and bank account help) without a working holiday visa.
Do I need to sort out a bank account and Tax File Number myself?
No — setting up an Australian bank account and Tax File Number is included and handled with your group leader’s help in your first week. You can start the bank account process up to 4 weeks before you arrive.








This morning we spend time with the local work and travel team who will make sure you’ve got everything sorted for living and working in Australia, and we’ll get you registered into jobs program to connect you to our wide network of employers. This afternoon we explore more of the famous beachside hotspot – St Kilda. We will hang out at the popular St Kilda Beach and visit the promenade.
Brunch like the locals do in the cuty designed for foodies, then head into the city to see the views from the tallest bulding in Australia – Eureka Skydeck. The afternoon is free to continue exploring before the group gets back together this evening to explore Melbourne’s Nightlife! We will visit iconic venues and Australia’s best social scene!
After a fun night out exploring Melbourne’s famous nightlife, have a sleep in and we will get together for lunch in the famous Botanical Gardens. This afternoon we have a free day to explore the Melbourne local social scene.
Exhilarate your senses with a full-day visit to the award-winning coastal oasis known as the Peninsula Hot Springs, only 90 mins from Melbourne. An idyllic escape for some much needed relaxation and thermal bathing with over 50 globally-inspired bathing experiences within the one Bath House. Once you’re completely restored, we’ll head to discover some of the Mornington Peninsula’s other iconic locations. We’ll ascend to the area’s highest point at Arthurs Seat for amazing views out over Port Phillip Bay at Murrays Lookout. Next up, we’ll head to Mt Martha Beach to admire this stunning sandy beach and its vibrant bathing boxes. Be sure to have your camera ready for these two Insta worthy spots! Following a day of exploring, come together with your group for the legendary Red Eye Bar’s infamous Bingo night!
