> ITINERARY

Day 1 | Bangkok

Arrive in Bangkok and head straight to your hotel with a smooth airport transfer. Settle into your room, refresh, and start getting to know the group. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner — the perfect icebreaker — before heading out to experience Bangkok’s electric nightlife. From rooftop bars to hidden back-street gems, your first night in Thailand sets the tone for the adventure ahead.

Activities: Welcome dinner & night out

Day 2 | Bangkok

Wake up in the heart of one of Asia’s most vibrant cities. Start the day exploring Bangkok from a local perspective: wander through peaceful temple grounds, cruise through historic canals, and learn about Thailand’s culture and traditions. Visit Wat Arun and Wat Pho — two of the country’s most iconic temples — then take a fun tuk-tuk ride back to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to roam markets, shop, relax, or hit the bars and street food stalls around Khao San.

Activities: Bangkok temple tour & canal trip

Day 3 | Bangkok to Phuket

Swap the fast-paced capital for island life as you fly south to Phuket. The moment you arrive, you’ll feel the energy shift — warm sea air, palm trees, and a relaxed beach vibe. The afternoon is free to explore local food spots, swim, or chill. Later, join the group for optional drinks and a night out exploring Patong’s infamous Bangla Road — neon lights, music, and a nightlife scene like nowhere else in Thailand.

Activities: Free time in Phuket

Day 4 | Phuket → Koh Phi Phi

Travel across the Andaman Sea to Koh Phi Phi, one of Thailand’s most celebrated islands. After checking in, wander the narrow beachside streets, grab a fruit shake, explore the beach, or hike to the iconic Phi Phi Viewpoint for a killer sunset. Nights here are lively and unforgettable — beach parties, fire shows, dancing under the stars, and the kind of atmosphere you only find on a backpacker island.

Activities: Phi Phi arrival & free time

Day 5 | Koh Phi Phi

Spend the day exploring Phi Phi’s legendary bays and limestone cliffs on a full-day island-hopping and snorkelling adventure. Swim in clear blue lagoons, visit Maya Bay, drift in Pi Leh Lagoon, spot wildlife at Monkey Bay, and relax on the white sands of Bamboo Island. With lunch included and plenty of swim stops, it’s one of the trip’s biggest highlights. Evening free for dinner, bars, and the Phi Phi nightlife scene.

Activities: Full-day Phi Phi snorkelling tour

Day 6 | Koh Phi Phi → Krabi

Leave Phi Phi behind and head to the mainland, arriving in the stunning region of Krabi. Settle into Ao Nang, a relaxed beach town with great restaurants, scenic coastline and a more laid-back vibe than Phi Phi. Spend the afternoon exploring the beach, grabbing a massage, or sampling the incredible street food. The evening is yours to chill or head out with the group.

Activities: Free time in Krabi

Day 7 | Krabi

Discover one of the region’s most beautiful spots — Hong Island. Cruise across bright turquoise water, snorkel amongst colourful marine life, and climb to the island’s new viewpoint for sweeping panoramic views. Whether you spend the day on the sand or exploring lagoons and coves, it’s one of the most photogenic days of the trip.

Activities: Hong Island day trip

Day 8 | Krabi → Khao Sok Lake

This is the finishing point for the 8-day trip, but for those continuing, the adventure heads deep into the jungle. Travel to Khao Sok Lake — a peaceful nature escape surrounded by towering cliffs and thick rainforest. After lunch at Smiley Lake House, spend the afternoon kayaking, swimming, or just relaxing in your floating bungalow. Dinner is included, and the night is all about soaking up the calm atmosphere — a complete contrast to the islands.

Activities: Khao Sok Lake transfer, swimming, kayaking

Day 9 | Khao Sok Lake → Koh Samui

Start with a dawn lake safari, gliding across the water as mist rises and wildlife wakes. After breakfast, begin your journey east to Koh Samui, travelling through lush countryside and across the Gulf of Thailand. On arrival, check into your accommodation and enjoy a free evening. Chaweng is the island’s nightlife centre — beach bars, music, and a great atmosphere.

Activities: Lake safari & travel to Samui

Day 10 | Koh Samui

Head out to the stunning Ang Thong Marine Park for a full-day island adventure. Kayak through hidden coves, snorkel with fish, trek to panoramic viewpoints, and relax on remote beaches. This is one of Thailand’s most impressive natural areas, and it’s a massive highlight of the trip. Lunch is included, and you’ll return ready for a chilled night back at your accommodation.

Activities: Ang Thong Marine Park day trip

Day 11 | Koh Samui

A full free day to spend however you want. Relax on the beach, explore waterfalls, join an optional activity, wander through Fisherman’s Village, or grab a Thai massage. Samui gives you space to recharge, explore, or dive deeper into island life.

Activities: Free day in Koh Samui

Day 12 | End Koh Samui

This is the end point for the 12-day trip.

> WHERE WE STAY

The Ultimate Thailand 12-Day group tour includes 11 nights of accommodation across Thailand’s cities, islands and jungle regions.

  • The majority of nights are spent in social, shared dorm accommodation (8–10 bed dorms) in well-located hostels, many featuring shared bathrooms and relaxed communal spaces.
  • You’ll start the trip with hotel accommodation in Bangkok, before moving into hostel stays across Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Krabi and Koh Samui.
  • A standout experience on this tour is the overnight stay at Khao Sok Lake, sleeping in floating bungalows surrounded by rainforest and towering limestone cliffs.
  • Accommodation is primarily based on shared dorm rooms, with limited twin or private room upgrades available on request at selected stops.

The Ultimate Thailand Group tour starts in Bangkok on Day 1 and ends in Koh Samui on Day 12.

Your group leader can help you arrange onward travel at the end of the tour, or select the return transfer option when you book.

WHO WILL I BE TRAVELLING WITH?

Whether you’re travelling solo or with a mate, you’ll meet like-minded travellers from all over the world on this Thailand Group tour. Group sizes vary with each tour however we like to keep things fun yet personal so you’ll be travelling with no more than 30 others.

DO I NEED VACCINATIONS?

We recommend making an appointment with your GP to discuss which vaccinations will be needed for your trip.

The Hepatitis A vaccine is strongly recommended. Rabies pre-exposure vaccination may be an option, but not essential.

Malaria isn’t common in the areas we visit, but stock up on bug spray in Bangkok as there are other diseases such as Dengue that are more common.

We recommend organising all vaccines at least 4-6 weeks before your trip to Thailand.

CAN I BOOK EXTRA NIGHTS?

If you need additional nights before or after your trip, just add them to your booking when you checkout.

Not sure if you need extra nights? Get in touch to chat with a member of the crew before or after you book.

CAN YOU HELP ME ORGANISE FLIGHTS & INSURANCE?

Sure! We recommend searching and comparing flight prices using Skyscanner.com – get a flight quote.

Find the best insurance policy for your Ultimate adventure with the help of our recommended travel insurance provider.

WHAT ABOUT THE FULL MOON PARTY?

Your Ultimate Thailand tour ends in Koh Phangan, home to the legendary Full Moon Party!

Some Ultimate Thailand tour dates coincide with the Full Moon Party. If your tour lines up with a Full Moon Party we'll make sure your group can attend.

There are also some epic Half-Moon parties on the island that take place in the middle of the jungle! If your tour dates align, we'll also give you the option to join the party!

If your Ultimate Thailand tour does not line-up with any “official” Full Moon parties, no need to worry! We always organise Ultimate parties for you in Koh Phangan regardless!

Check out our guide to the Koh Phangan Full Moon Party here.

DO I NEED A VISA?

In some cases, yes, and the process is very easy!

Citizens of 41 different nationalities, including Australia, NZ, UK, USA and most of Europe, can enter Thailand without a pre-arranged visa. This ‘visa exemption’ allows you to stay 30 days when entering Thailand by air, and 15 days when crossing into Thailand by land.

It's worth noting that without proof of an onward ticket and sufficient funds for your expected stay any visitor can be denied entry. For more information about 60-Day Tourist Visas, Visa Extensions and Visa Runs check out our Thailand visa info here.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY FLIGHT IS DELAYED?

If your flight arrival information changes, please let us know as soon as can so that we can rearrange your airport transfer. You can give us a call or email us with the updated date, time and flight number. If your flight is delayed, please find the relevant contact number to call on your Welcome Booklet to adjust your pick up time.

DO YOU CATER FOR VEGETARIAN, VEGAN AND GLUTEN-FREE DIETS ON ULTIMATE THAILAND TOURS?

Vegetarian
Yes. We can cater for vegetarian diets on our Ultimate Thailand itineraries, and Thailand is generally very vegetarian-friendly. Many local dishes are rice- or noodle-based and can be prepared without meat, and tofu and vegetable options are widely available. Please make sure you advise us of your dietary requirements at the time of booking so this can be communicated to our guides and suppliers in advance.

Vegan
Vegan diets are possible but can be more challenging, particularly in rural areas and on islands. While larger cities and tourist hubs are more familiar with vegan requests, many Thai dishes commonly include fish sauce, oyster sauce, eggs, or other hidden animal products. As a result, vegan meals may be limited, simpler, and sometimes quite bland compared to standard or vegetarian options.

If you are travelling as a vegan, please be aware that:

  • Vegan options may be limited for some included meals
  • Meals can be repetitive or basic
  • You may need to organise some meals independently
  • Hidden ingredients and cross-contamination can be difficult to avoid

Gluten-Free
Gluten-free diets can also be accommodated, but with limitations. While rice is a staple in Thailand, soy sauce and other condiments commonly used in Thai cooking often contain gluten. In smaller towns and less tourist-focused areas, awareness of gluten-free requirements can be limited.

If you are gluten-free:

  • Options may be restricted for included meals
  • There is a higher risk of cross-contamination
  • Some meals may be very simple or repetitive
  • You may need to supplement with your own snacks or meals

We strongly recommend advising us of all dietary requirements before travel and being flexible while on tour. Our guides will always do their best to assist and communicate your needs, but availability and understanding can vary significantly depending on location and local kitchens.

If you have strict dietary requirements or medical-level food restrictions, we encourage you to contact our team before booking so we can help you assess whether the Ultimate Thailand itinerary is suitable for you.

CAN ANYONE BOOK ULTIMATE THAILAND?

Ultimate Thailand is aimed towards travellers aged between 18 to 39 years old looking to experience the best of Bangkok and Southern Thailand in a guided tour.

WHERE WILL WE BE STAYING?

Our local accommodation has been selected to offer a unique experience in Thailand. You’ll be staying in a combination of budget hotels, an overnight sleeper train, a floating bamboo raft house and a beachside hideaway.

IS AIRPORT TRANSFER INCLUDED ON ARRIVAL?

Airport transfer is included in your trip! Just make sure you let us know your flight arrival date, time and flight number at least 14 days before your tour is due to start. Two weeks before your tour we will send you an email with detailed information about your arrival in Thailand, airport transfer, accommodation and where to meet your group.

HOW CAN I ACCESS MY MONEY WHILE TRAVELING AND HOW MUCH SHOULD I BRING?

The local currency in Thailand is Thai Baht (THB). The amount of money you should bring will depend upon the total length of your holiday and your spending habits. It’s very easy to get by in Thailand for $300 - $600 a week. This will cover your food, souvenirs and fun! However, try and budget for the higher end of this – it’s a once in a lifetime trip, so make the most of it! We recommend bringing a debit card / travel money card with you with so you can withdraw cash as you go. ATMs are available throughout Thailand. Alternatively, you can bring local currency to exchange when you arrive - your group leader can help you find somewhere, no problem. Try to only get out enough to cover you a few days at a time so you're not carrying around lots of cash.

ARE THERE MEALS INCLUDED?

We like to have a great mixture of some meals included and times for you to experience the local Thai cuisine! For a breakdown of what meals are included check out the trip notes!

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO THAILAND?

Thailand is a great country to visit all year round! As the country is so vast different weather systems spread out across the region. So if you're visiting at a certain time of the year and the weather is due to be hot and dry in Bangkok, you may experience a little rain in the southern islands. Not to worry though, if rain does occur it usually does not last very long and can be a relief from the heat!

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER MY TOUR?

All good things must come to an end. Your Thailand group tour finishes on the tropical island of Koh Samui, making onward travel simple and flexible. From here, you can fly back to Bangkok or continue your travels elsewhere in Thailand or Southeast Asia. Onward travel options can be added at the time of booking or organised locally with your Group Leader during the tour.

Below are the most common options once your tour finishes:

Flying from Koh Samui
The easiest and quickest option is to fly directly from Koh Samui Airport to Bangkok or your next destination. Flights are not included and should be pre-booked separately. As the tour finishes at 10:00am on Day 12 (hotel check-out), we recommend booking flights departing after 12:00pm to allow enough time to reach the airport.

Travel via Surat Thani
For a more budget-friendly option, you can travel by ferry and bus from Koh Samui to Surat Thani, then fly onward to Bangkok. Ferry and bus transport can be arranged with your Group Leader, while flights from Surat Thani will need to be pre-booked. We recommend booking flights departing after 2:00pm on your travel day.

Continue Your Travels
Koh Samui is a great jumping-off point to explore more of Thailand or Southeast Asia. Whether you’re heading north, south or onward internationally, your Group Leader can help you organise transport and provide local advice towards the end of the tour.

When arranging onward flights or travel, we recommend departing the day your tour finishes or the following day, depending on your chosen route. Travel times and ferry schedules can vary, so building in extra time is always advised.

  • We strongly recommend advising us of all dietary requirements before travel and being flexible while on tour.

CAN I BOOK ANY EXTRA NIGHTS WITH MY TRIP?

If you need additional nights before or after your trip, just add them to your booking when you checkout.

Not sure if you need extra nights? Get in touch to chat with a member of the crew before or after you book.
