You will explore some of Africa's renowned national parks, navigate the Okavango Delta in a traditional mokoro canoe, camp under the stars in secluded wilderness regions, monitor wildlife with knowledgeable local guides, and encounter genuine local culture throughout your journey. This trip includes travelling in a purpose-built safari truck and camp in incredible locations, you’ll experience some long but rewarding travel days. This is a true overland adventure, expect early mornings for safari drives, breathtaking sunsets and unforgettable moments.
TRAVEL STYLE
This is a small-group (maximum of 22 people) overland adventure through Southern Africa with a strong focus on wildlife, national parks and unforgettable shared experiences. Transport, accommodation and key safari activities are organised for you, with a mix of camping, bush stays and overland travel through some of Africa’s most iconic destinations. Expect early morning game drives, epic sunsets, remote wilderness experiences and a fun
group atmosphere as you journey through South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe together.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL
The best time to travel through Southern Africa is during the dry season from May to October, when cooler temperatures and lower rainfall create excellent conditions for safaris and wildlife spotting. For warmer weather and greener landscapes, the summer months from November to March can also be a great time to visit, although occasional rain showers are more common in some regions.

On this 17-day Southern Africa overland adventure, where you stay is all part of the experience. Accommodation has been selected to give travellers the best possible access to Africa’s incredible wildlife, landscapes and national parks, with a mix of campsites, bush stays and simple lodges throughout the journey.
Most nights are spent in two-person canvas dome tents with camping mattresses supplied, allowing you to fully experience life in the African wilderness. Campsites are located in scenic areas close to national parks, wildlife reserves and remote natural landscapes, creating unforgettable safari-style nights beneath the stars.
This is not a luxury tour — it’s a true overland safari designed for travellers who want unforgettable wildlife encounters, epic sunsets, campfire nights and the kind of adventure stories you’ll be talking about long after the trip ends.
The Real Southern Africa 17-day Group Tour includes 16 nights accommodation.
- Stay in a mix of safari campsites, bush camps and simple hotels, carefully selected to give you the best possible access to Africa’s incredible wildlife and landscapes.
- Accommodation on this trip is mainly in two-person canvas dome tents with camping mattresses supplied, creating a true overland safari experience.
- On selected nights, optional room upgrades may be available at campsites or lodges for travellers who would prefer extra comfort or privacy, subject to availability and payable locally.
- While facilities can vary depending on the destination, every stay is part of the adventure and adds to the authentic experience of travelling through Southern Africa.

To book, select your chosen departure date and select if you require additional nights. Once you are booked, we will send you a booking confirmation as well as important information about your tour.
The start is in Johannesburg. There are two airports in Johannesburg. We can help you pre-book an arrival transfer if you need.
The tour ends on Day 17 in Johannesburg. The last day is also a travel day, so make sure that you book your exit/onward flight after 10 pm. We can help you with a departure transfer or an additional night in Johannesburg.
