WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TOUR SOUTH AMERICA?

It depends where you're going. The Andes and Machu Picchu are best in the dry season from April to October, while Patagonia is warmest from November to March. Rio and the Brazilian coast are great almost year round. Our departures are timed around the best weather for each route.

TRIP FAQS

A South America Group Tour is a pre-planned trip where you travel with a small group of like-minded travellers and a local Group Leader. Your transport, hostels, internal flights and key activities are all organised, so you can focus on exploring.

The 15 day Colombia & Peru Adventure is a great first trip, with Colombian cities and coffee country, then the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. If you want waterfalls and beaches, the 14 day Argentina & Brazil Adventure is a great pick.

Yes. Most of our travellers join solo, and you’ll share dorms and activities with your group from day one.

Our South America Group Tours are for travellers aged 18-55, with most in their 20s and 30s.

Internal flights between stops are included on each tour. International flights to your starting city and home from your finishing city are not included.

Our South America tours are partner tours, run by our trusted local partners who look after transport, accommodation and guiding on the ground. You book and pay with ULTIMATE and our team is here to help before you go.

The Inca Trail is a 4 day trek at altitude, so a good fitness level helps. You don’t need to be an athlete, but some training before you go makes it much more enjoyable.
