North Island or South Island — which should I do first?

Most people do the North Island first, simply because there are more flights in and out. If you are only doing one, the North Island is the easier place to start; if you have three weeks or more, you can comfortably do both.

How long do I need in New Zealand?

Most travellers spend two to four weeks in New Zealand, and we run trips across that whole range. Two weeks is enough to do one island properly; three to four weeks lets you do both without rushing.

When is the best time to visit New Zealand?

New Zealand is popular all year, but it traditionally peaks over the summer months from September through to March. That is the warmest window and the busiest, so book earlier if you are travelling then. Outside those months you will find quieter trails and better availability.
