ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE
The 10-Day Adelaide to Perth Adventure is a true Australian rite of passage — a coast-to-coast journey through some of the most remote, raw, and breathtaking landscapes in the country. Travelling over 4,000 kilometres, you’ll cross the legendary Nullarbor Plain, camp beneath vast outback skies, hike rugged national parks, and swim in the electric-blue waters of Esperance. From towering sea cliffs along the Great Australian Bight to ancient forests and world-class beaches in Western Australia, this trip is about getting off the grid and into the real Australia.
This is not a sightseeing coach tour. It’s an immersive, small-group camping adventure where the journey itself is the highlight. Expect campfires, star-filled nights, powerful cultural moments, wildlife encounters, and landscapes that feel untouched by time. Guided by passionate storytellers, you won’t just see these places — you’ll feel them.
ABOUT YOU
This trip is designed for adventurous travellers aged 18–35 who are keen to experience Australia beyond the tourist trail. You’ll love this tour if you’re comfortable camping, enjoy being outdoors, and don’t mind a bit of dust on your boots in exchange for unforgettable moments. Whether you’re travelling solo, ticking off a bucket-list crossing of the Nullarbor, or chasing a deeper connection with nature and Country, you’ll fit right in.
A moderate level of fitness is required, along with a flexible attitude and a willingness to get involved with camp life. If you’re after hotels, late starts, and luxury, this isn’t the trip for you. If you’re chasing wide-open spaces, meaningful travel, and epic shared experiences, you’re exactly who this tour is built for.
TRAVEL STYLE
This is a small-group, fully guided camping adventure with a strong focus on nature, connection, and experience-led travel. You’ll travel in an air-conditioned coaster bus, covering long distances in remote areas, balanced with hikes, beach time, and immersive local experiences. Days are active and rewarding, while nights are spent camping under the stars in some of Australia’s most iconic landscapes.
Camping is a core part of the experience. You’ll sleep in traditional Aussie swags with built-in mattresses, staying in national parks, eco-camps, and one remote bush camp on the Nullarbor with no facilities — just you, the landscape, and the night sky. Guests are expected to help with simple camp tasks like setting up swags and packing down, adding to the shared adventure vibe.
Accommodation style by night:
- National Parks & Eco-Camps (8 nights): Swag camping with basic facilities
- Nullarbor Bush Camp (1 night): Remote swag camping with no facilities
GROUP VIBE
Groups are small, social, and made up of travellers from around the world — with plenty of solo travellers joining each departure. The vibe is adventurous, down-to-earth, and community-driven. Days are spent exploring epic landscapes together, while nights are about shared meals, campfire chats, and sleeping under stars you don’t see anywhere else.
Some evenings are chilled and quiet after big days on the road, while others turn into laughter-filled nights swapping stories with your crew. Long drives, remote camps, and shared challenges mean you’ll bond fast and leave with proper friendships, not just contacts in your phone.
WHAT MAKES THIS TRIP DIFFERENT
This isn’t a rushed highlights reel or a fly-in, fly-out West Coast snapshot. Crossing the Nullarbor by road, camping in remote locations, and spending real time in places like Cape Le Grand, the Stirling Ranges, and Margaret River creates a deeper, more meaningful connection to the land. You’ll stand on the edge of the Great Australian Bight, hike granite peaks, meet kangaroos on white-sand beaches, give back through a wildlife conservation experience, and connect with Country during a powerful Indigenous cultural experience inside Ngilgi Cave.
By embracing camping and travelling slowly through vast landscapes, this journey delivers something rare: a sense of scale, space, and perspective that most travellers never experience. It’s challenging in the best way, rewarding from start to finish, and the kind of trip people talk about long after they’re home.
THE CAMPING EXPERIENCE
CAMPING & ACCOMMODATION
This adventure is built around camping and spending real time in Australia’s wild and remote landscapes. Accommodation is a mix of national parks, eco-campgrounds, and one remote bush camp on the Nullarbor — giving you front-row access to places most travellers never get to experience.
This is a participatory camping tour. Everyone helps out with simple tasks like setting up swags, packing down camp, and assisting with meal preparation. It’s all part of the experience and creates the shared, social vibe these trips are known for.
SWAG CAMPING
You’ll sleep in a traditional Aussie swag — a durable canvas bed roll with a built-in mattress. Swags are set up under the stars whenever conditions allow, or inside shared weather tents if needed. It’s simple, comfortable, and one of the most authentic ways to experience the Australian outdoors.
Please note: swags are ground-based bedding, so you’ll need to be comfortable getting up and down from ground level.
FACILITIES
Most campsites offer basic facilities, including toilets and showers. One night on the Nullarbor is a true remote bush camp with no facilities — just you, the landscape, and an incredible night sky.
In wet or extreme weather, shared group tents will be provided for shelter. If conditions are unsafe or significantly impact the camping experience, alternative accommodation may be arranged. Any additional costs will be shared 50/50 between Untamed Escapes and guests.
WHAT TO BRING
Sleeping bags and pillows are not included. Please bring your own, or you can hire a used sleeping bag for $20 during the booking process. All retired or unused sleeping bags are donated to a homeless charity, giving them a second life.
Australia’s weather can be unpredictable, especially in remote regions. Be prepared for hot days, cool nights, wind, and exposure to the elements. Full packing recommendations will be provided before departure.
IS THIS CAMPING FOR YOU?
If you’re keen to sleep under the stars, embrace simplicity, and be part of a shared outdoor experience, you’ll love this trip. If you’re looking for private rooms, daily hot showers, or hotel-style comfort, this tour may not be the right fit — and that’s okay. This adventure is about immersion, connection, and experiencing Australia the way it’s meant to be seen.
