WHERE DOES THE TOUR START AND FINISH?
Your Vietnam group tour begins in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). You’ll need to fly into Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), where your arrival transfer will be organised.
The tour finishes in Hanoi, so if you’re flying out at the end of the trip, you’ll want to book your departure from Noi Bai International Airport (HAN).
We recommend booking flights that arrive into Ho Chi Minh City on or before Day 1, and depart from Hanoi on the final day or the day after the tour ends.
WHO WILL I BE TRAVELLING WITH?
Whether you’re travelling solo or with a mate, you’ll meet like-minded travellers from all over the world on this trip. You'll also sometimes have a local guide with you along the way!
DO I NEED VACCINATIONS?
Nobody wants a bowl of Pho, a bite of Bánh Mì or a bite from a mosquito to ruin the trip of a lifetime … so plan ahead and get your vaccinations sorted before you make the trip. This is a rough guide to want you have to plan against with Vietnam in mind and some of the vaccinations listed are taken care of during childhood so check with your GP before you go and book anything, just to make sure you need the jabs!
Hepatitis A and B – two separate diseases with a vaccination that can be taken together or separately. Both diseases are pretty awful so tick this one off!
Typhoid – highly recommended and transmitted by dodgy food or water. Get it and forget about it!
Tetanus, Pertussis & Diphtheria – It’s best to have an updated tetanus jab and the others come along with the package.
Measles Mumps and Rubella – one of the childhood immunisations that you might not need so check your immunisation record with your GP.
Flu – get a flu shot if you think it’s necessary or ask your doctor for more information.
Malaria – inland Vietnam has malaria whilst the coast doesn’t.
There are a couple more that can be recommended but aren’t essential so we’ll say it again – check with your GP!
Ideally, you should organise all this plus a trip to your GP 6 to 8 weeks before your departure. Some vaccination need 2 or more shots.
CAN I BOOK EXTRA NIGHTS?
If you need additional nights before or after your trip, just add them to your booking when you checkout.
Not sure if you need extra nights? Get in touchto chat with a member of the crew before or after you book.
CAN YOU HELP ME ORGANISE FLIGHTS & INSURANCE?
DO I NEED A VISA?
If you are looking into our Ultimate Vietnam trip then this should point you into the right direction on how to get a visa for travel in Vietnam. It is your responsibility to obtain the correct Visa to enter the country.
There are 3 options to obtain your visa:
Option 1: Apply in person or via post at your nearest embassy – means less hassle when arriving in Vietnam, but more expensive.
Option 2: Get a visa on arrival, which requires a visa invitation letter issued by an authorised agent before you leave home – seems a little easier and is also cheaper, but you’ll need to queue up when landing to actually have your visa issued.
Option 3: Apply for an E-Visa online – this is only available to certain nationalities and does not permit you to enter Vietnam through all entry points, only selected ones.
Generally no visa is required for travel to Vietnam lasting up to 15 days only if you are from one of the following countries: UK, France, Spain, Germany and Italy.
For your visa application, you can use the details of your first night’s accommodation:
Riverside Saigon
18–19–20 Tôn Đức Thắng Street
Bến Nghé Ward, District 1
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Visa requirements for Vietnam can change regularly and depend on your nationality. We recommend checking the official Vietnamese government or embassy website for the most up-to-date visa information before applying.
CAN I GET PICKED UP FROM THE AIRPORT IF I ARRIVE BEFORE DAY 1?
We don't offer this option at this time, however, what we can suggest is downloading online taxi applications called Grab or GoJek. They are similar to the famous Uber app and should make this transfer an easy process for you.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?
We strongly recommend arriving before 3:00pm on Day 1. This allows plenty of time to reach your accommodation, settle in, and join the welcome dinner, which is an important first group meet-up where we also collect some key trip information.
If you arrive later than this, there’s a chance you may miss the welcome dinner. However, airport pickup is included regardless of your arrival time. No matter when you land (or which terminal you arrive at), a driver will be waiting for you with a One Life Adventures sign to transfer you to the accommodation safely.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
We do our best to accommodate dietary requirements throughout the trip, although we can’t guarantee that every requirement can be met at all times, especially in more remote areas. Your guide will always help identify suitable meal options and suggest alternatives where needed, so you’ll never be left without something to eat.
SHOULD I BRING HIKING SHOES?
Yes, we would recommend bringing hiking shoes as there is hiking in Pu Luong.
WHAT TIME CAN I FLY OUT ON DAY 12
On the last day, we recommend the earliest departure no earlier than 11:00 AM. Please allow 1-1,5 hours to travel to the airport.
